Jade Nikkol

Took Jade to take pictures for her 12th birthday. I can't believe how beautiful she is. We went to New Beginings last night for Young Women's. I can't believe that time has gone by so fast. Jade, I just want to let you know that you are a light in my life. I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father allowed you to stay here on earth with us. He could have taken you that night on Feb 7th 1997. I thank him often in my heart that you are here with us. Remember I love you!! Mom

You are welcome to visit the following website to see pictures of Dad and our family. Feel free to make any comments, especially if you can identify where the photos were taken and what was going on. www.MeM.com Just type in Merrill Haley.

God Be With You Till We Meet Again

July 13, 1946 to January 13, 2009. Today we were able to remember and pay tribute to our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. We are very grateful to everyone who helped to make this difficult time a little easier through your love and support. Merrill will always be loved and remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Although this blog was originally created to keep track of Merrill's condition, now that it's already set up, we can use it as a way to stay connected with our family and friends. Post pictures, short stories, jokes, family announcements, etc. We would love to hear from you.

Happy New Year

Hope everyone had a happy new years day. Dad is holding on he has had a few appointments this week and has a few more to go. Finally got to see the radiation Oncologist who says the best thing for this type of cancer is to get started on the radiation. He says he can't promise that it wont come back but that he can get to it with radiation. Dad will have to stay in Vegas for around five weeks because radiation is done every week day except holidays. He needs 21 to 25 treatments followed up with I believe Mom said five doses of Chemo. Usually chemo is done first but with this cancer radiation is better first. This particular Doctor has only seen five cases of this type of cancer in his six years of practice and Mom and Dad seem very impressed with him he seems to have a good since of humor and a care nature about him . Dad's primary care Doctor and this radiation oncologist can not believe the hospital sent Dad home without a feeding tube. Dad was 220 lbs. in September now he is down to 185lbs. Mom has been assigned to keep what weight dad has left on him which is a daunting task because dad can't eat and does not what much to drink. Tomorrow Dad has an appointment with the oral surgeon about getting all his teeth removed. The Radiation Oncologist does not think that has mouth is cancer but that it is the bacteria causing this problem. They are hoping to get the teeth out and the mouth healed before radiation. Dad also has an appointment with the GI doctor to get a feeding tube placed before radiation. If this stuff is not done but the 15th dad will have a chemo treatment instead of radiation and then radiation can't be started until 21 days after the chemo. Thanks for all your love and support sorry I have not updated sooner but there has not been much going on. Please keep Dad and Mom in your prayers as I know this helps.
